Poynton Royal British Legion Concert Band currently has the following vacancies:

Clarinet (Bb, Eb and Alto)

Oboe

Bassoon

Saxophone (Alto or Tenor)

Horn

Euphonium

Tuba

Percussion

Applications from other instruments, as regular players or deps, are also welcome.

Please note that this Band is a community ensemble and musicians are not paid for performing in concerts or other events.

The Band rehearse most Wednesdays at the Band Room of the Poynton RBL (George’s Road West, Poynton, SK12 1JY) from 8pm - 10pm. At the end of each rehearsal there are some social drinks in the RBL bar. Once a month we also take a longer break in the middle of rehearsals for tea and cake. Visitors, whether they be listening, observing or playing are always welcome.

The Band does not hold auditions, but does suggest for a minimum standard of around grade 5 or equivalent. What is more important is a willingness to work at improving musically and a desire to have fun.

Membership to the Band is open to all regardless of age, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, being pregnant or on maternal leave, disability, race (including colour, nationality or ethnic origin) religious belief, sex or sexual orientation. Members of the Band are not expected to have served in HM Armed Forces or Commonwealth Forces. The Band do request that members are willing to uphold the values and ethos of the Royal British Legion.
